The funniest political ad I have ever seen

If you’re like me, you probably enjoy watching political advertisements about as much as mowing your lawn with a butter knife. But here is one you simply have to watch if you like laughing out load…

This is a parody ad put together by ”BostonTalks” radio station (96.9 on the FM dial if you happen to live in the Boston area). Great stuff!

Tucker Carlson launches The Daily Caller

Long-time conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has launched a new political blog entitled The Daily Caller, a venue where like-minded conservative thinkers can opine on the news of the day and we regular Americans can find numerous links to stories and columns of great interest on other sites. Sort of an aggregator of news written in a traditional voice, The Daily Caller has already become one of my first Internet “stops” each morning.

Although the site was only launched a few days ago, it has already attracted a huge number of powerhouse conservative writers and contributors. If you haven’t checked it out yet, I urge you to click on over to The Daily Caller and give it a try!

Remembering the King…

It’s hard to believe, but today marks the 75th anniversary of the birth of one of America’s most beloved entertainers, the one and only Elvis Presley. Many talented impersonators put on shows that are remarkably reminiscent of the King himself, but no one can match Elvis’ charisma and raw talent.

Elvis was much more than just an entertainer, he was a good man and a great American. Sadly, his greatness is overshadowed in the minds of many by the way he died. It’s easy to forget that the man who eventually became the brightest star in music history got his humble start singing gospel songs in church. And even as his popularity rose to unprecedented heights, he never forgot about God or shied away from thanking Him in public for giving him the talent that allowed him to achieve such stardom.

It’s also easy to forget that he made the patriotic decision to serve his country after being drafted into the U.S. Army just as his career began to burst through the stratosphere, even though he could easily have found a way to avoid it given his fame and powerful connections. Elvis’ fans wrote letters to the draft board by the thousands begging them to spare him from having to serve on active duty, but he answered the draft notice anyway and dutifully served his country for the two years it asked of him. Did he receive special treatment during his time in service? Undoubtedly. But he served, proudly wearing the uniform of the United States Army when others of his stature would have declined.

After his stint in the Army, Elvis re-entered civilian life and immediately picked up where he had left off as an entertainer. Even though some aspects of his later years in the business would become fodder for comedians the world over, troubles and all he was still a good man and a good American. The records he set and the firsts he achieved during his amazing career are now legendary, and even all these years after his death the King continues to be larger than life, “earning” more each year than many of the “stars” clawing their way up the charts today will earn in a lifetime.

When Elvis Presley died the world lost one of the greatest entertainers it would ever know. The video that follows is but a mere snapshot of the man and his amazing life.

Happy New Year as we ring in 2010!

When I was just a kid growing up in the 1960′s, the turn of the next century seemed so far away that I hardly even gave it any thought. But as I grew older the years came and went at an ever-faster pace, and now here we are kicking off the 2nd decade of the 2,000′s!

The world changed an almost unbelievable amount during the first 10 years of the third millennium, causing many of us who have been around long enough to remember Norman Rockwell’s America to wonder just where it went. Gone are the days when most children respected their elders and most “grown-ups” respected their peers, and no longer can a kid ride his bike down a narrow country road without having to fear anything more than being late for dinner.

There was a time in America when our politicians held staunchly opposing views and opinions, yet treated each other with courtesy and respect. Sadly, that is no longer the case. And it hasn’t been all that long since the folks we elected to represent us in Congress actually did just that. But now, the will of the people seems to fall on deaf ears.

Yes, the first decade of the 2,000′s brought a lot of negative changes to the country I love, and I don’t expect it to return to the ways of old any time soon. But you know what? God is still in charge of our universe, and by and large the American people still know right from wrong. I believe that in the long run common sense will ultimately prevail and we will indeed turn back in the right direction as a nation.

Hope springs eternal as they say, and I for one am looking forward to the next decade. It might be a rather bumpy ride, but it will almost certainly be exciting as well. Happy New year everyone!

4 hands, 1 guitar

You probably remember the late Jerry Reed as a pretty popular comic actor, but chances are you never knew that he was also a master guitarist.  Mr. Reed wrote a number of outstanding songs, and one of my favorites is “Jerry’s Breakdown” which he performed to perfection in tandem with the one and only Chet Atkins.

I was watching the Jerry and Chet video the other day on YouTube when I came across the one below. I think it’s rather amazing…

“Tears of God” by Josh Turner

Josh Turner has one of the most amazing voices in Country Music, and many of his songs reflect his deep love for our Heavenly Father. His moving performance of “Tears of God” combines that intense sprituality with his love for our great country and a solemn respect for its history to create a true musical masterpiece.

How to turn a 300 dollar investment into $30 million

How would you like to turn a $300 investment into a cool $30 million. It’s pretty simple really. Just shoot a 5 minute Sci-Fi video, upload it to YouTube, and then sit back and wait for the offers to start rolling in from Hollywood. Far-fetched you say? Well, that’s exactly how Mr. Fede Alvarez from Uruguay did it!

Check out the video below to see just what $300 can do when placed in the right hands… and prepare to be amazed.

Photographer uses Photoshop to help children

Just in time for the “Holiday Season of Giving,” TodaysPhoto.org special contributor Robert Schwarztrauber has committed to sharing 50% of the proceeds from his new children’s book with local and national children’s charities.

Via digital, high-tech 3-D FlipBook technology, this photographer-turned-author is releasing his new inspirational, educational, and motivational children’s book titled “Building Blocks of Prosperity” – and hoping to raise a great deal of money for children’s charities this holiday season.

“Many times we limit ourselves by thinking that Photoshop is just a tool for fixing bad pictures, or making good pictures great. But it’s actually a very useful program for creating all sorts of things,” says Robert.

He adds, “You can create stunning business cards, promotional flyers, ads, greeting cards, or in the case of my most recent project, a complete digital book and hardcover printed book using an online print-on-demand service. Everyone can really stretch his imagination when he considers how he can adapt his Photoshop skills to other tasks.”

“Building Blocks of Prosperity,” has been released to great reviews. It is currently available for immediate online viewing via a virtual, 3-D FlipBook technology. This presentation provides a realistic “page turning” book right on your computer screen. Kids love it!

The book is also available on a CD-Rom which includes the 3-D FlipBook, plus a full PDF page file and Bonus Pages not found anywhere else. And just this week, it became available in the traditional hardcover, printed book format.

Nearly 60 pages of toy, building block photographs help young readers discover the secrets of prosperity as quoted from the most prosperous people of all time – folks like, Dr, Martin Luther King, Mark Twain, Benjamin Franklin and King Solomon. Plus contemporaries like Oprah Winfrey, Mark Stevens, Dr. Robert Schuller, and many, many more. Over 105 brilliantly inspired quotes in all!

Robert has also included word puzzles, optical illusions, and hands-on activities that captivate young minds as they participate in this multi-sensory learning experience. For ages 3 to 103!

It’s a great way for parents to spend fun time with their kids – reading – and using this book to start kids down the proper path to prosperous living – in a relaxed, non-threatening environment.

“Along with the plastic and electronic gifts offered this year, I hope parents will give something that becomes even more valuable to their children as they grow older – the gift of knowledge,” added Mr. Schwarztrauber.

Parents and others interested can find more details on this book sale and children’s charity fundraiser at: http://buildingblockbooks.blogspot.com or at http://helpbobhelpkids.com.

“Ten Thousand Angels Cried” by LeAnn Rimes

I love listening to gospel music, and this moving performance of “Ten Thousand Angels Cried” by LeAnn Rimes is one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it as well.

“There Is A Reason” by Alison Krauss

Alison Krauss has the voice of an angel, so it’s no surprise that she sings gospel tunes better than most. Check out this video on which she and her fine band Union Station perform “There Is A Reason“, a beautiful inspirational number written by Mr. Ron Block.
