Hello, I’m Rick Rouse, and welcome to my little corner of the online universe! I’m just a simple country boy who was born, raised and lives in the “hills and hollers” of Southwestern Virginia. I love my God, my family, my country, and the beautiful southern Appalachian region that I call home.
Those who know me seem to think that I have an opinion on everything. I suppose they’re right, and I’ll be expressing many of those opinions right here in my blog. Sometimes you might agree, sometimes not – but you can always rest assured that you’ll know exactly where I stand on any issue that I choose to discuss.
My wife says there isn’t a shy bone in my body, and it’s true that I do love meeting and talking to new people. It doesn’t matter whether I’m at Wal-Mart, a Bluegrass music concert, or anywhere else for that matter, if there’s someone nearby to talk to I’ll strike up a conversation. I enjoy finding out what makes other people tick, and I love hearing the opinions of others even when they don’t exactly march in lockstep with my own. That’s the beauty of being human – we all have our own life experiences and opinions, and I’m always eager to share mine and hear about someone else’s.
As I write down my thoughts on these pages, don’t be surprised if I jump from topic to topic, seemingly at random. Like many of the people living on our wonderful planet, I tend to think about numerous diverse things throughout the day, and when I hit upon a theme that seems worthy of being written down, I do so.
Well, thanks for taking the time to visit with me and listen to what I have to say. Please keep in mind that all the posts you read on this site are my personal opinions (backed up with facts whenever possible). I don’t expect you to agree with everything I say. All I ask is that you “listen” with an open mind and feel free to contact me and give me your own opinions any time you wish. We’re all creatures made in God’s image, and that gives us the privilege of being unique and looking at things from our own unique point of view. And hopefully through it all we can learn something from one another!
