Lou Dobbs quits CNN

lou-dobbsEffective yesterday, iconic business reporter Lou Dobbs has resigned his position at CNN, making him the last of the cable network’s original anchors to make an exit. From the very infancy of CNN in 1980, his shows have been among the most-watched and most-profitable of all the network’s offerings.

Although he was never viewed as a staunch conservative, following the attacks of 9/11 Mr. Dobbs made the decision to become more outspoken about his opinions concerning illegal immigration and national security, prompting many on the left and virtually all latino advocacy groups to call for his ouster. Last night he saved his boss the trouble and simply resigned.

It appears that CNN is dead-set on following NBC and MSNBC down the road to irrelevancy by forcing out pretty much the only anchor on the network with the ability to draw a respectable number of viewers to his program. More good news for FOX News Channel I suppose.

Anyway, now that Mr. Dobbs is no longer on CNN, I’ll no longer have a reason whatsoever to even visit the network. And I have a feeling that I won’t be alone.
