Decorating the house for Christmas

Well, now that Thanksgiving and “Black Friday” have come and gone, it’s time to start thinking about decorating our homes for Christmas. I usually prefer to wait another week or so before carrying the Christmas tree up from the basement, but as always Cheria is forging right ahead with her annual ritual of hanging wreaths, tinsel and all manner of festive decorations around the house.

Since we have our two year old granddaughter Madison with us today, Cheria did agree to wait another day or two before we take on the job of putting up the tree. Of course Madison was all excited about helping GranGran spiff up the place, and she spent a good while this morning placing reindeer, teddy bears, cute little doggies and a variety of other stuffed animals in their respective places. Then she promptly fell asleep and left GranGran to finish the job on her own.

I guess the next time Madison’s “Sissy” Olivia comes to visit we’ll get around to putting up the Christmas tree, but our house is already beginning to project a holiday atmosphere. The Christmas season is a great time of the year, but it sure does keep “Papaw” busy.

To be honest about it, Madison was watching TV and a Christmas program was on, so she decided that we should decorate. So that we did….well just a bit.
