Strong meteor shower expected tonight

Every August planet earth travels through a wide stream of debris left over from Comet Swift-Tuttle, and when it does it creates the most active meteor shower you or I will likely ever witness.

Known as the Perseid meteor shower, this amazing event lasts several weeks, and if you happen to be out and about tonight (and the skies in your area are dark and clear), you should be able to see a steady stream of meteors streaking across the sky – possibly as many as one every couple of minutes. And if you’re lucky you just might see a spectacular fireball or two!

The Perseids always put on a great show, and unlike many other forms of “entertainment”, these shows are entirely free for most everyone on earth to enjoy.
