Hurricane Bill kicks off the 2009 hurricane season

Since Tropical Storm Ana failed to reach hurricane status, Tropical Storm Bill has officially become the first hurricane of the 2009 hurricane season. Currently a category 2 hurricane, Bill has the potential to strengthen even further as it ambles towards the Caribbean.

Contrary to the dire predictions of the Global Warming crowd, the 2008 hurricane season was quite moderate when compared to others in the recent past. Of course it remains to be seen what 2009 has in store for us, but Ana and Bill are certain to be followed by several more of these powerful storms.

For some reason, hurricanes have always fascinated me. One of nature’s greatest ironies is the way such a beautiful phenomenon as a hurricane (when viewed from space) can pack a punch that leaves entire cities and even countries in shambles. Of course God is in charge of the weather, and we’ll just have to be ready to deal with these cyclonic “visitors” whenever they happen to head our way. Be alert, be prepared, and be in awe of the power of the Almighty God as manifested through these amazing storms.
